BRAGA UNESCO MEDIA ARTS CITY

In 2017 Braga was inducted into UNESCO’s prestigious Creative City of Media Arts network: It is therefore listed in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) that fosters international cooperation with and between cities that have identified creativity as a strategic driver and enabler for sustainable urban regeneration and development. Today the Network brings together 116 cities from 54 countries, working towards common objectives: placing creativity and cultural industries at the core of local development plans, and actively cooperating through inter-city partnerships at the international level. We consider this a great honour for our city as since its foundation Braga has been at the avant-garde of differing contemporary creative genres, whether under the Roman empire or during the sumptuous Baroque period. With each challenge, the city has become richer in diversity and more curious on advancing applied creativity in and across disciplines and fields relating artistic, scientific, technological and academic perspectives. Please view the video below to get a flavour of what is in store for ArtsIT/DLI delegates in October 2018.
